“Snow Christmas Tree” is a desktop accessory developed by Respect Soft Company. It’s a variation of the other accessory developed by the same firm, named as “Christmas Tree”, and they only vary in some skins available.
It’s an extremely simple and easy-to-configure tool that will bring some of the Christmas spirit of this time of the year to your system desktop. What this accessory does, besides the obvious function of decorating your desktop, is to set a countdown clock keeping track to the time left for Christmas. Actually, you can choose among four different dates to keep track of. The dates are the following:
1. Christmas – December 24, 2008;
2. Christmas, December 25, 2008;
3. New Year – January 1, 2009;
4. Julian Christmas – January 7, 2009.
Of course, the time that there’s left to either of these dates depends on your location in the world because of the time zones. That’s why Snow Christmas Tree will identify your time zone from your operating system.
There are 11 skins variations from which you can choose they one better fits your likes. A weak point of the tool is that there are 11 and that’s it. You won’t be able to add new skins to it. One thing you can do though, is to change the skin font used to show the countdown, using whichever font you like from the ones installed on your system.
You can also choose some settings regarding alarms. Snow Christmas Tree allows you to choose from three different sounds to use: Chimes, Jingle Bells, and Notify. These sounds will be used to trigger an alarm every hour, every half an hour, or never (disable sound features). There are some extra settings you can use to your convenience and likes:
- Load at Windows startup
- Always on top
- Display shadow
- Show days remaining
- Show stars
Snow Christmas Tree is absolutely free and is available to download from the developer’s site on the Web.
